Ayurveda is a sister science to yoga and one that is extremely beneficial to understand as a student of yoga. Originating in India over 5000 years ago, Ayurveda is an ancient and profound science that allows individuals to discover balance. The strength of Ayurveda lies in its embracing the individual constitution of every person, instead of relying on a one-size fits all approach. In this process a person becomes empowered to begin looking at their environment and connecting it to how they may be feeling physically or mentally. One uses this growing understanding of Ayurveda to bring in qualities that foster and maintain balance. During this lecture Kerry will briefly go into the history and basic principles of Ayurveda. Briefly addressing how some of the basic principles may impact your yoga practice, as a student or teacher.Photo of Lord Dhanwantari (God of Ayurveda) from http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/
